The session engaged technology companies, industry leaders, and students entering STEM fields, focusing on practical strategies for building meaningful professional networks that support career growth and long-term success.
Custom STEM Curriculum in Practice
During the summer term at Wayne State University, Christine Burkette designed and delivered a custom 5-week STEM program in partnership with Curry Motor Sports, focused on strengthening science and mathematics foundations through real-world application. The curriculum was intentionally built to address identified learning gaps, with participating students ages 7 to 15 performing three to four grade levels below expectations in core math and science skills.
Each week was supported by a custom instructional manual, developed by Christine, that aligned hands-on experiments, guided problem-solving, and career exploration with measurable learning objectives. To extend learning beyond the classroom, the manuals integrated QR-code–enabled instructional videos and resources, allowing students and families to access step-by-step support at home and reinforce concepts independently. This blended, systems-driven approach helped close learning gaps while building confidence, curiosity, and early exposure to STEM career pathways. Mic
Created while serving as Director of Digital Equity & Inclusion for the City of Detroit. This interactive GIS platform was designed to translate complex citywide data into clear, actionable insights that are accessible to the public and decision-makers alike. Your brand is more than a logo or a website, it’s your reputation, your story, and the value people associate with your name or product the moment you enter the room. Through PICF, Inc., I design brand ecosystems that align leadership presence, technology, storytelling, and execution.
I’ve done this work inside global enterprises and community-driven organizations alike, helping leaders translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, and scalable brands.
